Creating space for your soul to breathe so you can discern your next right thing.

40: Keep Your Rest

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.” – Psalm 23:1-3

I make a few confessions in this one and maybe you can relate.

More than ever, I’m convinced that beneath our hectic schedules, our proud accomplishments, and our self-sufficiencies, we simply long to be loved and cared for right where we are, no strings attached.

Maybe in these few minutes we have together, our God will father and mother us in all the ways we need the most.

Thanks Emily…I needed these words to guide me through the week. Maybe it’s about time I kept my sabbath?

I recited the 23rd Psalm with you as you read it as I drove into work this morning and I got so emotional. Maybe it is sign I need rest. The words you quoted from the book the Sabbath rang true for us in December of 2016. My mom is very much the doer. She would never rest. It was not in her make up to say no to anything. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with cancer and most people’s response was the Lord wanted her to rest. Thank you for the time you invest in your podcast each week. It truly is a gift.

Thank you Emily for your weekly podcasts which have spoken to me greatly. I can relate totally to the grief in a busy season. How the halcyon days of youth and children small hold onto my nostalgic heart. Your words delight and resonate. Thank you. Rachel

Thank you, Emily. I so look forward to your podcasts…they calm me, they put me in ponder mode, they slow me down. At first, i felt impatient with them….kind of hurry up, i’m busy, can you talk a little faster? Now, I LOVE the rhythm, love the music, the calm slowness. ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
I so appreciate that you are taking time to share what God is teaching you. It is such a gift to us.
