“The beginning space was actually a holy space, not just a layover on my way to something better.”
–Leeana Tankersley, Begin Again
Sometimes things in life that are meant to be fun and delightful – choosing a paint color, wrapping a present, picking out plants – turn out instead to be one more decision we feel incapable of making. What is the next right thing in situations that overwhelm us but shouldn’t? How can we move forward as a beginner in areas where we may not feel a lot of confidence but wish we did?
Here are three simple steps for moving forward when you feel unsure, even in the little things.

I have read and followed all that you have written over the numerous years. It all rings so true. Remember to remember is a phrase that has been revolutionary for me…never wanting to forget Gods goodness in my life and so many other good things.
Love your podcasts but the music at the beginning actually makes my heart race. The fast tempo does not feel like a space where I can breath but rather a place where I need to run. I find myself having to read the transcript because of the effect of the music. Perhaps Iām not the only one so I thought I would share. Thank you for all that you have shared ?
Hi Deanna! Thanks for your kind words. And yes – music is so subjective, right? Some love it, others not so much.
So sorry for the heart racing fiasco š Glad you have the transcripts to fall back on for that reason.
I LOVE the music at the beginning of each podcast…it makes me smile because I know what’s coming next… the sound of your voice…so soothing and kind, and a message I didn’t know I needed to hear! <3
I Loved your podcast as always do. You are using your gifts our Lord gave you sister!
This episode? One of my favorites. I can’t begin to tell you how much I identify with standing in the plant section with great longing while simultaneously feeling the grip of fear and an overwhelming sense of indecision. Your words were full of so much grace, so much permission for my soul. Pick what you like and see how it grows. Holding on to that wisdom for keeps.
Emily, I love the simplicity that you brought to making choices in life. Choices can be such a source of anxiety and can keep us from moving forward in joy and anticipation of good. Thank you for sharing! I will share this with others!
Thank you Emily. Your words have given me hope and encouragement at a time in my life when I need it. I find myself beginning again late in life and your inspirational insight on life have truly been a blessing in mine.
