Today’s episode is for parents, caregivers, or anyone with children in your life who may need help with their next right thing.
Though this episode was recorded just a few days ago, a lot has changed in the world since then as our global community continues to try to slow the spread of COVID-19. I only address the pandemic for a moment at the top of the episode and then continue with the regularly scheduled conversation about helping children navigate their own decision-making posture.
Perhaps more than ever before this is a good time to talk with kids about keeping our minds on just the next right thing in front of us. Listen in.

Oh Emily, this episode spoke to my heart. My daughter is in the class of 2020. We have had so many conversations over the past few days. Prom, graduation, friends…She is grieving what she was so excited for. We are doing our best in these uncertain times. She is trying to press forward toward what is coming next, but she has worked for thirteen years and now it just looks different. Your podcast reminds me to help her to keep moving forward doing just the right next thing in love. Thank you!
Yes, Suzanne, my niece is also in the class of 2020. Born just days before 9/11, or in the months following, this class of high school seniors entered a shaken world unfamiliar to their parents. Their emergence into adulthood is again greatly impacted by world-shaking events. It seems so unfair to us who were young adults during the Reagan era when all seemed well-and-getting-better with the world. I know they will be stronger for their challenges. May we, their parents, relatives, and teachers, all listen, guide, instruct and love them with a Wisdom unknown even to us.
Great episode! Thanks
Hey, friend – this was really helpful. I really appreciated the perspective. Parenting IS hard, and these tips were really helpful. Thankful for your good work.
It’s amazing how our loving architect, designer, planner has all things in His hands, even the recording of a “regular episode”. Thank you. Being home daily with my adult daughter who randomly shares thoughts and feelings, I am reminded to not seek my agenda for her, but to listen. Her world is not the same.
