He had the gift of seeing, a burden beyond anything I can imagine. Once you see and know, you can’t unsee, unknow. And if your gift is from God (and I believe all good ones are) then you are compelled to say what you see.
Isaiah told them in repentance and rest was their salvation, quietness and trust was their strength.
They didn’t want it. Wouldn’t do it. Instead they wanted to take action, rise up, swiftly move, be active.
And so they were. Things did not go well.
But still . . .
The Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him.
