“I remember spending time in Peru, where the pace is slow, even uncomfortably slow. I daily watched farmers walk into their fields from their tiny huts and asked our hiking guide what the values of the culture were.
My guide told me the values of the culture were faith and family. And if those are your values, you definitely don’t need a lot of money or a lot of Twitter followers. You just need to stay close to the earth to learn how God does things, and close to your family to nurture your heart.”

These links are gathered here to help point you a little closer to hush. Each weekend of 31 Days to Hush, I will try to find links from other writers learning how to listen and to see. If you read something during the week that you think would fit, feel free to send me an email with “hush links” in the subject line and I’ll consider adding it to next weekends links. And if you wrote a hush post? Even better. I’ll choose the ones that fit the best.
This is the seventh post in the series. Click here to see a list of all the posts, updated daily. If you would like to receive these quiet thoughts in your email inbox, subscribe now.
Aw, girl.
4 days. That’s all I’m saying.
Powerful links. Thank you for sharing. I had to read the first link twice. Talk about a heart-checker of a post.
Enjoyed the three links. I’m sure I will be reading more by these people. Thank you.
“It’s as though God reminds us through creation all things live, all things die, and He is in control.”
How simply profound . On this melancholy Monday, I cherish these words. My quiet is being interrupted and I selfishly want to crawl under the covers and ignore the noise, of responsibility. I am seeking His face and desiring His embrace.
I’m feeling more relaxed just reading your Hush posts. And as I journey through the 31 Days, I’m paying attention to Simple, But Beautiful things. In some ways I’m reawakening to the things I often overlook. This requires some hushing and listening and looking. Thanks!
